We combine 3D laser scanning, CAD drafting, and BIM modeling to give project teams accurate existing conditions documentation they can build from — reducing costly errors and eliminating surprises before construction begins.

The Role
As a 3D Laser Scanning Technician at TWG, you’ll play a key role in capturing accurate existing conditions data across a wide variety of project types — from residential renovations and commercial facilities to industrial plants and historic structures. Your work directly impacts the quality and confidence of every project that flows through our office.
This role is a strong fit for hands-on technicians who take pride in precise, methodical work and are ready to bring those skills into a new field. Direct experience with 3D scanning is not required — we provide full training on our equipment and software. What matters most is a sharp eye for detail, comfort working in varied field environments, and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Do
- Operate 3D laser scanning equipment in the field across a range of project environments
- Capture accurate point cloud data of existing buildings, facilities, and structures
- Process and register scan data for use in CAD drafting and BIM modeling workflows
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure scan data meets project requirements
- Maintain and care for scanning equipment and related technology
- Travel to project sites across Central Illinois and surrounding regions as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy
- Comfortable working both independently in the field and collaboratively in the office
- Background in a hands-on technical field — construction, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, inspection, utilities, manufacturing, or similar — or experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field
- Comfortable learning new equipment and software — we’ll train you on the tools we use
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning equipment or point cloud data is preferred — not required
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software is a preferred — not required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to work in a variety of field environments including industrial and construction sites
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand or walk on job sites for extended periods

- Pay Range: $18 — $25 per hour, based on experience
